Introduction
DTMH requires services of a Junior Bookkeeper in our Finance Department. DTMH is in the process of capacitating the organisation with the necessary skills in order to achieve its business plan. For this reason, a Junior Bookkeeper with requisite knowledge, expertise, experience and technological capabilities is being sought to assist the Financial Manager of DTMH.
Background
- DTMH is an NPC that was formed following the sale of Gallo/AVUSA property, including studios, to the Department of Sports, Arts & Culture (DSAC) in 2009;
- DTMH is more than a studio facility but a multi-faceted establishment with a legacy built over the past 70 years
- Its facilities include three state-of-the-art music recording studios, 14 rehearsal studios, a museum, a variety of eventing and meeting rooms and administration offices.
- The structure of the DTMH includes board, board committees and executive management exercising oversight and direction over the organisation.
- In recent years there have been changes to DTMH management, and now the organisation wants to bring stability in order to effectively fulfil its mandate and successfully implement its strategy.
Objectives of DTMH
The following are the objectives of the Hub: –
- Offer cutting-edge recording facilities for pre- and post-production of music, film and other creative products so as to facilitate a conducive environment for production of high-quality products for local consumption and for export to international markets.
- A platform for publishers in the music industry to practice their craft and network in an environment where their works are protected and the requisite benefits accrue to them
- Contribute meaningfully towards to the drive to prioritise indigenous music and the playing of local content in the various broadcasting, media and other facilities thus ensuring that livelihoods of local musicians are secure
- Creation of empowerment projects and programs, with requisite partners, in order to facilitate human capital development and skills upliftment for role-players in the industry value chain, thus enhancing entrepreneurship, sustainable professionalism resulting in economic empowerment
- Collection, preservation and promotion of South African music heritage
- Form part of a creative precinct, in the heart of Joburg, intertwining music, film, crafts, design and other, as well as connecting the Hub to other vibrant attractions such as Maboneng, Gandhi Square, Newtown and The Market Theatre
- Embrace and use technology as a driver and enabler for industry growth and development
- Undertake research on various aspects of the music industry
- Provide cutting edge recording technology and equipment to support communities in the region
SERVICES REQUIRED
- Daily capturing of the bank statements into Sage.
- Daily invoicing for all bookings for studio and rehearsals.
- Invoicing for other DTMH revenue streams such as rentals, meeting rooms.
- Ensure collections and payments by clients.
- Perform bank reconciliations for all DTMH bank accounts.
- Prepare monthly requisitions for all month end payments for the FM.
- Prepare monthly supplier and customer reconciliations for all DTMH suppliers and customers.
- Review the monthly supplier and customer age analysis list for anomalies and report to FM.
- Prepare the expenditure schedule with the supporting documentation for the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.
- Filing source documents for all journal entries recorded.
- Filing customer and supplier invoices with their source documents.
- Prepare the audit file for the annual audit for the auditors.
- Compiling monthly financial reports (Trial Balance, Supplier’s ledger, Customer Ledger, Journals).
- Preparation and maintenance of petty vouchers, schedule, and file with source documents.
- Perform adhoc duties as required.
Essential Attributes
- Microsoft Office (Word and Excel imperative).
- Matric.
- A minimum of 1 year experience
- 3 – 4 Year Degree or Diploma in Accounting.
Proposed Salary: R6 000 per month
