Studio Three has undergone a major refurbishment over the last few years and is perfectly poised to host your next overdub or final mix project.

The studio is based around two small-to-mid-sized booths which are isolated from each other and are perfect for vocal overdubs, ADR, or tracking of small ensembles who don’t necessarily require the space that our bigger studios offer.

Our 48-Channel SSL AWS 948 is perfect companion for today’s modern workflows and its extensive 1/4” patch bay makes interfacing your outboard gear a breeze.

If you have some sonic experiments to perform, or a production to hone, then this is the room for you!

Composing to picture? Our 46” preview screen shows the images, so that you can set the tone.

We have a fully-recallable stereo analogue environment here in Studio Three, so not only will it sound great, but you can work at your pace with the piece of mind that nothings going to change when you come back to revisit your mix, with some fresh ears, in the following days and weeks to come.

Studio 2 is Jozi’s very own “Hit Factory” and those in the know travel from far and wide to record here.

To some it’s a sacred place and for others it’s all about the fun had when recording in it’s live rooms or just shooting the breeze in it’s legendary control room.

While we’ve upgraded the other studios here at The Hub, this one has been left untouched – it has a certain Mojo that you really have to experience at least once in your artistic career!

The live room, like Studio One is divided into a couple of distinct spaces. We’ve got a brighter sounding 6,2 x 3,4m area that is isolated from the main 7,6 x 6,5m space, with a large piece of glass which allows for the great sight-lines that are fundamental to the way we record here at DownTown.

Engineers will also appreciate our “amp corral” with it’s large-swinging doors which offers some great additional isolation of loud sound sources, yet keeps them all sounding in the same space – great if you want a cohesive-sounding recording. Add to this x6 large BBC-style Gobo’s and you’ve got one super-versatile recording space… alive with possibilities.

Studio 2 is affectionately known by our staff as the Stimela Studio, as this express train hardly ever pulls into the station for a rest – book today to avoid disappointment!

A spacious control room and large versatile studio area make this flagship studio ideal for large ensembles and for all that appreciate the value of having some air around their notes.

The main room is divided into two separate spaces, with a brighter sounding (7,2 x 4,7 meter) space connected to the larger (11,4 x 10,4 meter) tracking area with clear lines of sight.

Visual communication is crucial when tracking – that’s why each of our six large BBC-style Gobo’s has been built containing a small window, so that you catch that all important nod, wink, or hand gesture when laying that groove down.

They offer great isolation too – your whole band can set up in the same room and record with the same vibe you have on stage – yes, back to basics.
